Over a hundred parents and family members came out to support ARISE students and see their work aExhibition Night December 2008t our end-of-semester Exhibition Night.  Ninth grade students in Chris Lester's biology classes presented their research about different environmental issues; tenth graders showed the products of the power tools they used to create planter boxes in Leah Herrera's geometry classes; and eleventh graders demonstrated their catapults from Manny Medina's math and physics classes.

Come celebrate our students' learning and accomplishments at our Fall Exhibition Night on Thursday, December 18th from 5:00-7:30! Families, friends and community members are all welcome!

While we are well into our second successful year at ARISE, the current financial climate is having an impact on our already tight budget.  Please support us in any way you can by donating online at http://arisehighschool.chipin.com/arise-high-school or by mail.  All contributions are tax deductible and very much appreciated!

On August 25th, we began our second school year and welcomed approximately 70 new students into our community.  Returning students as well as the new ones didn't recognize the space, thanks to the amazing job that the Unity Council did in turning the space into a real school with classrooms, walls, ceilings, bathrooms, sinks, water fountains, and more! It looks beautiful, we have some exciting programs and talented new teachers, and everything is terrific except our finances!

ARISE begins its second year on Monday, August 25th.  We are excited to welcome our new and returning students for our best year yet!  New students and their families come at 8:45 AM and returning students and families come at 12:45 pm.

Twenty-five ARISE students are participating in various exciting opportunities this summer, meeting part of the school's graduation requirement to participate in two summer programs, including one "cultural immersion" experience as part of their preparation for college.  Two ninth graders participated in Camp Start-Up, a young women's business program at Cornell University in New York.  Five students in grades nine and ten have already completed or are heading off to Outward Bound courses in the Sierra Nevadas and in Washington state.  Six students attended the CES Summ

ARISE 10th graders will be doing their Bridge Presentations the afternoons of May 28th, 29th and 30th. Each student will present a portfolio of their work, reflect on the Habits of Mind and Heart that they've developed, and demonstrate why they should move up to the eleventh grade next year. Please join us to view and evaluate their work. We will be hosting a training session for visitors and panelists at 12:30 on each of the three days and presentations will be held at 1:00, 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00. Everyone is welcome!

ARISE High School is looking for teachers as we expand to another grade next year! We are looking for Humanities, Math, and Physics teachers to grow with us. ARISE High School had it's first Exhibition Night as a culmination of all of the good work students did in their first semester. Turnout was terrific, with almost every student in attendance and the vast majority of our families as well. Students did a wonderful job performing original plays in Spanish, their Humanities slideshows, and short films on various illnesses and diseases in Biology. Momentum is now continuing as students are fully immersed in their three week intersession courses.

Students will be performing plays in Spanish, screening their public service announcements and short films for Science and Humanities. Come share and celebrate the wonderful work that students have done this semester!
