Send a Student to College Campaign

When: Thursday, April 29, 5:30 - 7:30 PM
Where: Arsimona Lounge in Old Oakland
Why: To celebrate — and support — ARISE's first graduating class!

We are so proud of our college-bound students who will be the first members of their families to attend college. At this event we'll hear from seniors themselves about where they'll be going to school, their experience at ARISE, and more.

As first-generation college-bound students from predominantly low-income families, our kids must navigate many obstacles, financial and otherwise. We have designed our Send a Student to College (SSC) program to offer ongoing support for our new 9th-graders as they set out to follow in our current seniors' footsteps. Among the resources you'll be supporting are:

• Laptops for students (only one in 10 ARISE students has a computer at home)
• Several college visits a year
• Cultural immersion trips (such as a month in Nicaragua)
• SAT fees and preparation
