Students, families and teachers continue to join the ARISE team! At our May 3rd Design Team Meeting, students and parents worked on creating community agreements which we will continue at the next meeting on May 17th at OCO in Eastmont Mall from 4:30-6:30. May 17th will also be an opportunity to meet some of our new teachers. Several wonderful Humanities teachers have come on board: Jackie Jenkins, who most recently taught at Berkeley High, Upward Bound, and June Jordan School for Equity; Willi Sanchez who comes to us from EXCEL in West Oakland; and Kate Sugarman who last taught in a small school in New York City. We interviewed a lot of different candidates and we think that we have found the most fabulous teachers ever!
